Valentine’s Day Is For Everyone: Self Love IS True Love

FEBRUARY 1, 2012 BY REVEREND SUE

Valentine’s Day is a wonderful holiday to celebrate, I know a lot of single people who cringe at the thought of spending this day alone when couples are out and about being all gooey and stuff…

I bet a lot of you single folks out there in Cyberland think about Valentine’s Day this way:

As a person who spent many a Valentine’s Day alone in my younger years, I also used to cringe whenever this day would roll around but after a while I found I could have a lot of fun by pampering myself on this day, too…

HOST A SINGLE’S VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY

Invite your single friends to a Pro or Anti-Valentine’s Day party and meet up at a restaurant like in the 2010 movie “Valentine’s Day” like Jennifer Garner’s character…

Below is the YouTube link to this hilarious scene in the 2010 movie “Valentine’s Day” where Jennifer Garner’s character makes it known how much she dislikes Valentine’s Day so much she hits a heart pinata’ with all her might at her “I Hate Valentine’s Day” party:

YOU CAN ALSO HOST A

“NATIONAL SINGLES AWARENESS DAY PARTY”

HEALTHY SELF-LOVE AND BEING INDEPENDENT ARE PART OF THE JOURNEY OF LOVE…

Pamper yourself: Go to a spa, take yourself out to dinner or meet some friends for dinner, buy yourself flowers and/or something special, YOU ARE WORTH IT…

Everyone wants a stable, loving partner and a partner is a mirror reflection of what you feel about yourself,so treat yourself well! What you think, you are and will attract the same to yourself…

PEEL AWAY THE LAYERS OF THE PAST THAT HOLD YOU BACK FROM GIVING AND RECEIVING LOVE…

Forgive and set yourself free from past hurts and the people who hurt you…

We all live a duality, our dark and light sides.

We know both our angels and personal demons…

We need to reconcile with both sides.

CHANGE THE VOICES INSIDE YOUR HEAD, MAKE THEM LIKE YOU INSTEAD

I can’t praise the artist Pink enough for writing her very healing song “Perfect” as she makes it clear that people need to stop the negative self talk and to love themselves unconditionally.

Thank you Danielle S. for this quote:

“We need to move from seeing to believing to believing what we see which is necessary for manifesting those positive changes .”

In the video below titled “Attract Love: Valentine’s EFT Tapping”, David Childerley talks about how you can heal and love yourself and in return, attract someone who will love you unconditionally.

Brad Yates will then do an Emotional Freedom Tapping exercise to change negative subconscious programming into love for yourself which will attract someone of the same energetic vibrational match.

I feel external markers are the noticable things we don’t like about ourselves to make the changes we wish to do for ourselves.

They don’t define us, they shine a light on the lessons we need to learn.

There’s a way to do this, on my journey of self-discovery I have learned from the following:

FIRST STEP: GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY BY NOT SETTING LIMITATIONS ON YOURSELF

SECOND STEP: DON’T EXPECT TO BE FULFILLED BY SOMEONE ELSE, IT IS UP TO YOU TO FILL WHATEVER VOID NEEDS TO BE FILLED WITHIN YOUR SOUL.

Best-selling author Shakti Gawain wrote a magnificent book named

“Living In The Light: A Guide to Personal and Planetary Transformation”

Shakti drives home the point that the “old school” way of finding our soul’s happiness was external and through your partner which results in disappointment.

Whatever void we are feeling, we are going to attract a partner with this same void, mirroring our “need” not a “want” type of relationship.

All relationships are mirrors for the way we feel about ourselves.

I’ll quote Ms. Gawain:

Relationships in the old world have an external focus- we try to make ourselves whole and happy by getting something from outside ourselves. Inevitably, this expectation results in disappointment, resentment, and frustration.

Either these feelings build up constantly and cause continual strife, or they are suppressed and lead to emotional numbness. Still, we cling to relationships out of emotional insecurity, or go from one to another searching for that missing piece that we haven’t yet found.

In the past, most people were willing to hang onto an essentially dead relationship for an entire lifetime because it gave them physical and emotional stability

We’re willing to let go of old forms to search for these ideals, but we don’t know where to find them.

Most of us are still looking outside of ourselves sure that if we just find the right man or woman to be with we’ll be blissfully happy.

We must move forward into the unknown to create a whole new level of relationship: the one with ourselves.

Relationships are not outside- they are inside of us; this is the simple truth that we must recognize and accept.

My true relationship is my relationship with myself- all others are simply mirrors of it.

As I learn to love myself I automatically receive the love and appreciation from others that I desire. If I am committed to myself and to the truth, I will attract others with equal commitment. My willingness to be intimate with my own deep feelings creates the space for intimacy with another.

Enjoying my own company allows me to have fun with whomever i’m with and feeling the aliveness and power of the universe flowing through me creates a life of passionate feeling and fulfillment that I share with anyone with whom i’m involved.

KNOW THYSELF

By this I mean really go within and see what makes you…Well, you…

THE YIN/YANG PRINCIPLE: BALANCING YOUR MALE AND FEMALE INFLUENCES

Men and women both have Yin/Yang aspects of ourselves a.k.a. Male/Female aspects

The Yin/Female aspect of ourselves is receptive and intuitive while the Yang/Male aspect of ourselves are masculine and active

To balance these energies, we must let the female aspect of all of us to guide us with her intuition and let the male aspect of ourselves to take action on this intuition.

I realized that I am utilizing my male aspect of taking action and not listening to my female intuition.

This explains a lot of why many times I felt powerless, I had very little direction and was not listening to my intuition, my own truths which I have suppressed for so long…

BALANCING YOUR TYRANT/REBEL

The tyrant side of ourselves always want to get things done while the rebel says “No, take it easy!”

We balance these aspects of ourselves by setting realistic goals and pacing ourselves.

BALANCING YOUR VICTIM/RESCUER

The victim in us wants to be rescued from the harshness this world can give us, the problem is we put all the blame and our responsibilities onto someone else, which is not fair.

The rescuer assists the victim and takes on way too much, causing bad feelings, resentment and self-neglect…

I am a rescuer, I find I attract victims to myself and i’m all too happy to help them, but one problem kept surfacing: I wasn’t taking care of myself, I was ignoring my needs and getting myself lost in other people’s lives.

I wasn’t living my life in balance…

The key word here is BALANCE in all the above aspects we all have.

Once again I will quote Shakti Gawain:

What does it mean to take care of yourself? For me it means trusting and following my intuition. It means taking time to listen to all my feelings-including the feelings of the child within me that is sometimes hurt or scared-and responding with caring, love, and appropriate action. It means putting my inner needs first and trusting that as I do this, everyone else’s needs will get taken care of and everything that needs to be done will get handled.

Here are a few more ways to get to know yourself:

ASTROLOGY gives you an accurate portrait of your personality traits and is great to check compatibility between two people…

Like a sparkling diamond, our personalities have many facets…

We have a Sun Sign that is ours since the moment of birth, mine is Saggitarius, this is my soul, I love expanding my knowledge, typical of a Saggitarian…

The Ascendant, or rising sign is what people see you as, mine is Virgo, I give the appearance of organization

The Moon Sign, is our emotional side, mine is Cancer, very nurturing and a homebody.

Simply, your sun sign rules your personality—it’s your soul. Your moon sign rules your emotional core—it’s your heart. Your rising sign rules your outer appearance—it’s your book cover.

A great site that explains all of these more fully is Divine Caroline:

NUMEROLOGY is the same, only you calculate your birthdates and names for compatibility.

PAST LIFE REGRESSION gives you insight on what in your past (this life or before) situations are holding you back…

A well-known healer who does Past Life Regressions is Dick Sutphen and he has a wonderful list of

e-books you can instantly download as well as regression audios you can use at home.

Here is Dick’s site:

Contemplation, spending time alone, writing down things that you feel are holding you back.

NOTE TO SELF: TREAT YOURSELF WITH UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

FORGIVING AND RELEASING YOURSELF AND OTHERS

Emotional Freedom Tapping: This is saying positive affirmations while tapping your accupressure points, very effective…

David Childerley leads you in a short, instructional video on forgiving yourself and releasing fear using a Huna (Hawaiian) method of Emotional Freedom Tapping.

Instead of dreading Valentine’s Day when you’re not with a partner, take this day to nurture and pamper yourself, but most importantly love yourself right here, right now.

I look very much forward to your feedback and shared experiences, I hope this Valentine’s Day you will go down the path of love, your own special journey to self awareness and most of all, self love as you will attract someone who is going to treat you with the same love and respect you give yourself.

This is only the beginning, treat yourself with unconditional love and see all the good you’ll get in return for when you emanate love it comes back to you ten fold…

Enjoy your journey on the path to self-love!

Have a Happy and Nurturing Valentine’s Day!

Much Love,

Susan
